WireLess Commincations First Text Book william Stallings

0
Wireless Communications and Networks by Willaim Stallings is an ideal study material for students to learn the fundamentals of wireless communication and networking. The content is well-organized and covers all the essential concepts in wireless domain. If there is one word by which I would have to describe this book, it would be: "complete". The author assumes that the reader has nothing but very basic mathematic and scientific training and takes him all the way from first principles in those disciplines to the details of cellular networks, wireless LANs and Bluetooth to mention three of the latter chapters. The ample usage of illustrations, review questions and www-references position this as a high-quality textbook. Then again, if you are an experienced engineer, looking to solve a concrete problem for the wireless system you are presently sitting in front of, you will find that Stallings' book, because of its breadth of treatment, does not reach the necessary depth. In that case: read one of the many references for further study that the author offers.

Wireless Communication by Rappaport provides a wideband coverage of mobile and wireless communication in a precise manner. The book has gained popularity over the years and is one of the best for mobile communication. All the communication fundamentals are linked to this book.

This book gives full coverage of all of the basics of data communications including signals, modulation, transmission media, and ECC. It has a comprehensive coverage of OSI and networking protocols with illustrative details of packet and frame contents with emphasis on the first four layers. There is coverage of most important networking technologies including TCP/IP, ATM, ISDN, frame relay and SONET. The many illustrations are appreciated. The book is well written and easy to follow and has excellent breadth of coverage but it does not develop theoretical aspects or mathematics in areas such as modulation or traffic modeling.
